Army Memo re: Detainee Screening Procedures Recommendations

A detainee was not properly medically screened and died as a result of a non-diagnosed medical condition. These are recommendations about screening of detainees.

    • On the morning of February 8, 2004 a detainee was found breathless and pulseless in his cell. The detainee had been brought in to FOB Ironhorse four (4) days earlier complaining of weakness and had two (2) episodes of fainting. He was so weak that he required assistance to hold him up for his in-processing. The death was not considered as a result of detainee abuse.
