This is a Department of Defense (DOD) Memo regarding the death of Raad Kairy Hammid. Mr. Hammid was a 27-year-old Iraqi, captured by collation forces on November 20, 2005. Mr. Hammid became ill while incarcerated at the Baghdad Central Confinement Facility (BCCF), Abu Ghraib, Baghdad, Iraq, and was admitted to hospital on Feb. 3, 2006; diagnosed with Encephalitis. Mr. Hammid did not respond to treatment with a "poor prognosis." Life support was withdrawn and Mr. Hammid expired as a result of his illness.
