Letter from Acting CIA Assistant Inspector General for Investigations re: Consultation with the U.S. Department of Justice, January 14, 2005

This is a letter from the Acting CIA Assistant Inspector General for Investigations to a doctor for potentially retaining them as a medical expert in the upcoming trial of David Anthony Passaro. Mr. Passaro was a CIA contractor charged with four (4) counts of assault in connection with the beating death of an Afgahni detainee, Abdul Wali, on a military base at Asadabad, Kunar Province, Afghanistan, June 21, 2003. The letter states that the Department of Justice was pursuing the prosecution and the CIA OIG was cooperating with the matter. The medical expert was being forwarded documents and materials to review. The letter also states that there will be a follow up meeting to discuss the matter further and to discuss the fee for the retaining the expert.
