Fay Report Annex: Statement of Civilian Contractor (CACI), Screener, 504th Military Intelligence Brigade re: Allegations of Detainee Abuse at Abu Ghraib Prison

This is a sworn statement by a civilian contractor, screener assigned to Abu Ghraib prison in December 2003. He stated that he made a statement in reference to an incident involving a family of Iraqi civilians, a sister and two (2) brothers, one who was mentally handicapped. "I screened both brothers and both sisters. . . . [T]hey were scared to death and they thought we were going to beat them. One said he was raped with a bottle by [redacted] and they mentioned another brother that was supposedly beat to death." "I saw detainees with bruises, black eyes, blood in the eyes, beaten, physical abuse."Detainee mentioned seeing an American flag tattooed on someone and mentioned seeing a black man at the palace.The interviewee stated that when Special Forces brought in detainees they would have bags over their heads. Some would have facial bruises when the bags were removed. .
